- 2 Dodka/Ridge Gourd small to medium size
- 100 gm Moong Dal(Lentils, yellow petite)
- 2 green chillies
- 1 small size onion
- 1 small tomato
- Very small capsicum
- 2 table spoon kitchen king masala
- salt as per taste
- Oil 3-4 table spoon
- Jeera powder 1/2 tea spoon
Soak the Moong Dal in water for 20-30 mins before cooking.
In the mean time let's prep for our other ingredients, starting with the ridge gourd, remove slight layer of ridge gourd skin so that it cooks properly and won’t give rough texture while eating - chop it to small pieces, Chop green chillies to medium pieces, onion and tomato finely chopped, medium chopped capsicum.
Heat oil in a kadhai over medium flame. Add green chilly pieces to it.
After 1 min add finely chopped onion to it. Sauté it on lowest flame till the onion turns transparent, this might take 3-4mins.
Add finely chopped tomato, let it cook till the tomato pieces turn soft and can be smashed easily with spoon.
Add 1/2 tea spoon of jeera powder and mix it.
Now add soaked moong dal and mix it well, cook it for 4-5 min.
Add Dodka/Ridge Gourd and mix it and leave to cook for next 4-5 mins.
Add 2 table spoon of Kitchen king masala. Mix it well and add capsicum.
Put the flame on high and stir for 2 min.
Now its time to add water so that we can set consistency of the curry. For this add 100 ml water and let it cook for 3-4 min. Again add 100 ml water and cook for another 3-4 mins.
Finally add around 300 ml of water in it and put flame on low.
Add salt as per taste and let the curry cook till dal gets smoother.
