IceCream

IceCream!!! Yess yess IceCream!!! I love IceCream so much that as soon as I hear this word my mouth starts watering and my mind started craving for it. It is very difficult to find a person in the world who doesn’t like IceCream. I must say we should appreciate a person who introduced such tasty frozen sweetened dessert to our life.

Meaning of IceCream changes with different countries. Terms like “frozen dessert”, “frozen custard”, “frozen yogurt” etc etc are used to distinguish IceCream in different varieties, style and looks according to different countries. Some countries created their specific rules and criteria to call it IceCream. Product who do not fulfil such rules and criteria may be called frozen desserts or the name given by that country. Example, In India product which is not able to complete these IceCream term criteria are known as frozen dessert.

Specific date of origin and inventor of IceCream is unknown in History as of now. But according to several myths, origin of IceCream comes from ancient China. As per one of myth IceCream originated on Magnolia and came to china during its expansion and migration.

Around the world we might come across many interesting myths and rumours about IceCream.  As per one rumour Roman Emperor Nero Claudius Caesar frequently sent his servants to collect ice from the Apennine Mountains to produce the first sorbet mixed with fruit juices and wine. Another rumour about King of England, Charles I, offered his chef £500 a year to keep his ice-cream recipe a secret from the rest of England.

Invention of endothermic effect introduced modern IceCream. Before inventing endothermic effect  cream could only be chilled and couldn’t be froze. Addition of salt allowed lowering the melting point of Ice. It creates the effect of drawing heat from cream and allow it to freeze. First known record of this technique observed in Indian poems “Panchtantra”, dating to the 4th century AD.

When cheap refrigeration techniques were available for the world in middle of 20th century, IceCream started getting its popularity. Which led introduction of many IceCream brands globally. Multiple IceCream stores were opened world wide. Each brand introduced variety of flavours and types to the world.

Some of the brands succeeded to get popularity worldwide.
